Under Construction

Dust fences are built around the future site of Maui High's STEM classes & Autism Center

Maui High’s campus is expanding! There are two new construction sites, the first between the staff parking lot and portables on the south end of campus and the second between the school’s main driveway and A-building. Although Maui High’s students and staff know there is construction, what is the purpose?

What is under construction?

The construction in front of A-building is the future site of Maui High’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) courses as well as a new Autism Center. Maui High’s STEM classes will be for Sabers only; however, the autism center will be used by K-12 students. The construction between the office and back portables will be additional staff parking.

Why is it being built?

Principal Yap says the new STEM/Autism Center will help with space and class availability. “It gives us more classrooms because we’re crowded right now--We can add electives.”

When will it be finished?

The projected finish date for both the new classrooms and staff parking lot is two to three years from now (2023-2024)

How is the construction affecting our campus?

Bus drop-off and pick-up have been relocated from the main office driveway to the student parking lot for safety reasons until construction concludes.
